With the forecast poor again :( we were not sure if was worth going !!! but Rob and Hannah were keen to give Flaine ago after checking the webcam and with the cloud level high they decided to go earlier and get a full pass.Me,Mag and Dan decided to get our usual 4 hour afternoon pass as the weathers supposed to be worse tomorrow !!! On the lift up we decided to show Mag the marvel run at Morillon even though it is closed :( I get to the top of the Morillon slopes first and then see Mag and Dan below heading toward Les Molliets !!! not a good start to the day and we don't meet up again for nearly 2 hours !!!!!!!! I duck under the closed barrier and try the marvel run which is great most of the way with only a few threadbare spots and it's great to have the piste all to yourself. It's good to be away from the crappy, busy, bumpy runs full of dickheads going flatout trying to run you down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I met up with Mag and Dan at the Sairon lift in Morillon with tension abit high :( but we do the marvel again and start to relax and enjoy again :) We stop for a quick picnic,do the marvel once more and head back. The runs to the lanche were good as was the Samoens marmotte piste back to the bubble :) Back at the appartment hear that Rob and Hannahs day was not much better than ours :( alot of the Flaine lifts are shut and the pistes are crap - very bumpy !!!!!!!!!! but the good news was they bought a box of top french cakes and we cheered up over a cup of tea :) The area is now in desperate need of fresh snow and the area is not good this early in the season as it is mostly too low to hold the snow with 8 degree temperatures !!!! and sadly it looks like I will not get to to the 14 k Les Cascades with Sixt still closed :(
Mag and I have come to the conclusion after our second Christmas in a row of poor conditions and difficult journeys down that it might be time to try something different - whats Hawaii like at Christmas ???? Sadly we are just not getting sunshine, blue skies and some nice flat pistes anymore :(
